There is no specific Date for when “Japan” was born, rather, there are the dates for the first occupation of Japan and various dates as Japan became more and more unified over the centuries, until the formation of the empire and then what we see today as Japan.

Here are some defining dates of Japan’s history that could be called the birth of Japan:

The first Japanese moved into Japan around 30,000BC and from there, the society continued to grow.

The first signs of civilization and stable living patterns appeared around 14,000 BC with the Jōmon culture

The Nara period of the eighth century (AD 710 to 794) marked the first emergence of a strong central Japanese state, and also the emergence of a distinctly indigenous Japanese culture.

The type of fuedal society for the most part persisted for years until the arrival of Americans under Matt Perry in 1854, opening up Japan to the world

That led to the formation of the Empire of Japan in 1868 until it was defeated in World War II in 1945.

Japan as we know it today was born after adopting its constitution in 1947, Japan has maintained a unitary constitutional monarchy with an emperor and an elected parliament.
