I want to remove a 1/2 ponywall running the length of my stairs, and install a wood/iron stair railing…?

what’s the process? We are also installing carpet along there. Do I remove wall first, install railing first, then carpet? Help?
Any tips on what I should be asking the estimators for? I need them to not only remove the ponywall, but also they will be intalling the railings and spindles…I am interviewing 2 contractors..tips? sugesstions of questions to ask? How long do you think it should take? Anyone? Thx for your input!

i’d take down the wall first, then clean up the mess, next install the carpet so the railing isn’t in the way, and last i’d put up the railing.
